Official NHL 75th Anniversary Commemorative Book

In 1992, the National Hockey League celebrates its 75th anniversary. This commemorative volume offers a history of the league through excellent photographs and essays from 15 respected journalists. The photos are particularly arresting--notably a graphic representation of a goaltender's face from the era before protective masks were accepted, and a poignant shot of "The Golden Jet" Bobby Hull cradling his infant son Brett (who would later follow in his father's footsteps, and today skates for the St. Louis Blues franchise). Despite avoiding controversial issues like the leadership vacuum in the NHL's governing body, North American hockey's propensity toward violence, and the mushrooming player salaries which cannot be sustained without a major television network contract in the United States, this volume is nevertheless a superb record that will delight hockey fans of all ages. Highly recommended.
